What you’ll need:

  • 1 can of chopped tomatoes (about 400 g / 14 oz)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 garlic clove, minced or pressed

  • 1 red chili (or a pinch of chili flakes – adjust to taste)

  • Juice of ½ lime

  • A small handful of fresh cilantro (optional, but great if you like it)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • A drizzle of olive oil (optional, but adds a nice smoothness)

How to make it:

  1. Pour the chopped tomatoes into a bowl. For a thicker salsa, strain off a bit of the liquid first.

  2. Stir in the onion, garlic, and chili.
